Regularly inspecting gas metal hoses ensures safety.

A gas metal hose is a flexible rubber tube that connects cooking appliances to the gas pipeline. As its service life increases, it may become leaky or damaged. Therefore, it’s essential to regularly inspect gas metal hoses to prevent safety hazards caused by aging or rodent damage. Especially during winter, as temperatures drop, mice tend to enter homes more frequently. If they chew through the gas hose, gas leaks can occur. Additionally, gas hoses that have been in use for an extended period will start to age. The recommended service life for these hoses is 18 months; residents are advised to replace their home gas hoses every 18 months. If you detect a gas odor, promptly check the gas hose for leaks. If you’re unsure, you can also call your gas company and ask a professional technician to come to your home for an inspection.

Basic Safety Tips for Gas Use

If you suddenly smell gas indoors, it indicates a gas leak. You should immediately shut off the valve, open doors and windows for ventilation, and strictly prohibit turning lights or any other electrical appliances on or off. Also, absolutely no sources of ignition—such as matches, lighters, or candles—should be brought into the premises.

The cylinder must be stored in a cool, easily accessible location. It is strictly prohibited to pour boiling water onto the cylinder, expose it to direct sunlight, or roll it around. Any residual liquid remaining inside the cylinder must not be disposed of privately.

When the gas appliance is in operation, if you notice flames overflowing the casing or flames shooting out from the lower part, you should immediately stop using it.

When the gas appliance is running, if black smoke is emitted from the upper part, it indicates that the heat exchanger is severely blocked or there is a foreign object inside the burner. The appliance should be immediately shut down and sent for repair.

Gas appliances should undergo a comprehensive maintenance and servicing by qualified professionals every six months or once a year.
